A One-Week Beauty Plan for a Hurghada Holiday

The plan in one paragraph

Day 2: a 60-minute massage to clear the flight, EUR 15. Day 3: Turkish hammam, EUR 20. Day 4: rest - beach only. Day 5: HydraFacial, EUR 50, and a Japanese head spa, EUR 25. Day 6: rest. Day 7: gel manicure, EUR 35, and hair styling if you have a last evening out, EUR 20.

That is roughly EUR 145 across a week for five treatments, with nothing scheduled in a way that undoes anything else.

The rest of this post explains why that order and not another one - because the sequencing is where most people go wrong.

Why not everything on day one

The instinct on arrival is to book the whole list at once. It is the wrong move for three reasons.

First, you have not been in the sun yet. A facial on day one treats skin that has not yet met four days of UV, sunscreen and salt. A facial on day five treats the skin you actually have.

Second, exfoliation stacks badly. A hammam and a facial in the same 48 hours means two exfoliations on skin that only needed one, and the result is irritation rather than a double benefit.

Third, nails and hair are the things you want fresh for the flight home and the photos, not worn down by five more days of sea water. Book those last.

The only treatment that genuinely belongs early is the massage.

Days 2 and 3: undo the journey, then the skin

Book the 60-minute massage (EUR 15) for day two, not day one. Day one is check-in, orientation and the first swim; day two is when the flight has actually caught up with you. A long or overnight flight compresses the spine and stiffens the hips, and clearing that in the first 48 hours genuinely changes the rest of the week. If your shoulders are the problem, spend EUR 20 on the 90-minute version instead and name the two areas that hurt at the start.

Day three is the hammam. The Turkish hammam runs 120 minutes from EUR 20 and is the most thorough exfoliation available - which is exactly why it belongs before the facial and not after. If your skin is dry or sensitive, take the 90-minute Moroccan hammam at EUR 25 instead; it scrubs less and finishes with argan oil.

Then leave day four alone. Freshly exfoliated skin plus a full beach day is enough.

Day 5: the double session

This is the day that earns the plan. Book the HydraFacial (75 minutes, EUR 50) and the Japanese head spa (60 minutes, EUR 25) back to back in one visit, and you are done in a little over two hours with the two treatments that do the most visible work.

By day five your skin has had real sun exposure, daily sunscreen and salt water, so a cleansing facial has something to actually clear. Booking it now rather than on arrival is the difference between a nice hour and a visible result.

The head spa pairs with it because it treats a different surface - the scalp, which by day five has had the same sunscreen and salt and is usually drier and tighter than the guest has noticed. If your afternoon is tight, the combined head-spa-and-facial treatment (60 minutes, EUR 30) does both in one hour instead of two.

Book the afternoon or evening. Going straight from a facial into midday sun is the one scheduling mistake that costs you the result.

Day 7: the things you fly home with

Nails last. A gel manicure (60 minutes, EUR 35) holds for two to three weeks, so booking it on your last full day means it is intact for the flight and the first week back rather than chipped by five more days of sand and sea. A classic manicure at EUR 25 is the right choice if you would rather not have gel; nail art is EUR 40.

Hair styling (60 minutes, EUR 20) is worth it only if you have an actual evening for it - a dinner, a last night out. Book it for the evening, not the afternoon, and not before a beach session. Humidity and sea spray undo a set style faster than anything.

If frizz has been a real problem all week rather than a one-day annoyance, the keratin treatment (180 minutes, EUR 180) belongs here too - late enough that another five days of sea water will not undo it.

How to adapt it

Three days instead of seven: massage on day one, hammam on day two, facial and manicure on day three.

Travelling as a couple: book the same slots and we will run treatments in parallel where the rooms are free. The massage and the hammam are the two that work best done together.

On a tighter budget: the massage (EUR 15), the Turkish hammam (EUR 20) and a classic manicure (EUR 25) is a genuinely good week for EUR 60.

A cancelled boat trip or a windy day: that is the day to move the facial and head spa forward. A sea day lost is the easiest day of the week to fill.
